Ashleigh John Morris M.A.
Ashleigh John Morris is an Archaeologist, Historian and Cultural Heritage Management Professional with over seven years of experience specifically in Trinidad and Tobago, and the wider Caribbean. In this role, he is responsible for scheduling, protecting, and monitoring tangible heritage assets. This involves strategic planning and implementation to preserve and enhance the cultural heritage of Trinidad and Tobago for future generations.
Ashleigh also holds a Research Fellowship at the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies, focusing on archaeological heritage management in the Caribbean. This role involves applying field experience and academic knowledge to address regional heritage challenges and developing heritage management strategies. Ashleigh is also currently pursuing a PhD in Archaeology at Leiden University in the Netherlands, Ashleigh's doctoral research emphasizes collaborative archaeological heritage management, working closely with First Peoples and local communities to ensure that heritage management practices are inclusive and culturally respectful. He has contributed to significant regional and international research projects, including the ERG-Synergy-funded Research Project Nexus 1492 and the 1677 Rockley Bay/Scarborough Harbour Research Project.
